Skippy's long-standing infatuation with Mallory reaches a boiling point when he stubbornly denies her feelings for Nick, leading to an awkward outburst at the Homecoming dance. In an effort to help his friend, Alex urges Skippy to move on and explore other romantic possibilities, even bringing in a psychiatrist for support. However, Skippy remains trapped in his daydream, unable to release his hold on the idea of being with Mallory.
