Nick begins his new role at Manhattan General. Meanwhile, Ben receives the news that his HIV test has come back positive. In an effort to mend his past mistakes, he brings his ex-wife on board to help restore her career. Andy discovers that her daughter Jesse's friend is struggling with cough syrup addiction. New intern Kayla Thorton faces a challenging day in the ER, landing in hot water after she inappropriately questions a patient about her sexual activity in front of her mother. When Jesse's friend loses consciousness from syrup overdose, Jesse performs CPR, while Andy grapples with guilt over the incident.
