A decade after posing for the renowned artist Pierre Sarcelle in post-war Paris, Phryne finds herself in Melbourne when Sarcelle’s widow arrives seeking her late husband’s artwork. However, things take a dark turn when the widow mysteriously vanishes. Phryne uncovers a link between Mme Sarcelle and the death of an Australian war veteran who had witnessed what was deemed an ‘accidental’ death at Montparnasse train station. As she investigates, memories of her Parisian past and first love resurface. Ultimately, Phryne confronts the murderer with Jack’s unwavering support, giving her the strength to face her history.
