As the men prepare for the upcoming drive, they discover a stray horse tied up nearby. Favor finds himself in trouble when he gets arrested on charges of horse theft. Meanwhile, the sheriff's wife is involved in a secret affair with Cronin, the very man who reported the horse as stolen.
