In Camelot, Merlin leads a crucial quest to reunite Excalibur with its missing dagger, hoping to harness its power to rescue Emma from the encroaching darkness on her soul. Accompanied by Zelena, Hook, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, and Robin stealthily infiltrate Arthur's castle to reclaim the broken sword from the deranged king. Meanwhile, Merlin takes Emma on a quest to confront an ancient foe and acquire the vital spark needed to reforge Excalibur. Both groups face significant challenges, but one encounter threatens to jeopardize their entire mission. In a flashback to a time before Arthur, a young Merlin discovers his purpose through magic and immortality, but his love for the refugee Nimue sets off a chain reaction impacting all of our present-day heroes.
