Brooke travels to Miami to delve into Amanda's history, discovering through an old newspaper that Amanda was thought to have died years ago. Posing as someone whose car has broken down, she visits Amanda's ex-husband, Jack. Brooke then coerces Amanda into granting her a promotion. Meanwhile, Jack, having taken one of Brooke's business cards, makes his way to Los Angeles. Billy finds out that Alison has recovered her sight. Michael feigns a reconciliation with Sydney, hoping to push Kimberly to her limits. Peter confides in Sydney that his worries about Kimberly are tied to memories of his late sister, who faced similar struggles. Jane and Richard become engaged, but after Jane disrespects MacKenzie’s memory, Richard fires her, only to later promote her to partner. Jo feels uneasy when Jake hires Shelly and lets her move into his apartment. Dr. Hobbs makes a derogatory comment about Matt to Michael, who then encourages Matt to consider a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
