When Icarus Base comes under attack, its residents are compelled to escape through the Stargate. This base was established on a remote planet to harness a potent energy source found there, while also seeking to uncover the mystery behind the elusive ninth symbol of the Stargate that has always eluded them. Upon activating the Stargate, they find themselves not on Earth, but aboard a massive, ancient spacecraft that appears deserted. With their commander injured, Lt. Scott and chief scientist Dr. Nicholas Rush take charge of exploring the vessel. Although some sections of the ship are damaged, it remains operational, revealing that they are billions of light years away from Earth.
