As Nellie and Susan prepare to head to St. Louis, Matt arrives with a wounded prisoner from a bank robbery. Eager to depart, Susan fears that her feelings for the prisoner might keep them from leaving. Meanwhile, Mr. Boswell proposes to Nellie, but Susan intervenes to prevent the marriage from happening.
