A series of abductions involving young women, all tied together by warped photographs, draws Mulder and Scully into a complex investigation. They discover a man with the ability to project his most sinister fantasies onto undeveloped film. As they delve deeper, they learn that he believes he is attempting to rescue the women from a group he calls the "howlers."
