Buffy encounters a girl named Lana, who often spends her time alone while her mother is out. Initially, Buffy admires Lana’s independence and thinks about emulating her lifestyle. However, when Lana visits and reveals that she envies Buffy’s seemingly perfect life, Buffy begins to reconsider her own perspective and the value of her own experiences.
