Ed's curiosity about his parents leads to the arrival of a 256-year-old Indian spirit called "One-Who-Waits," who offers to assist him in uncovering the truth. Meanwhile, Chris discovers that a stunning woman visiting the town has taken his voice. In his desperation, he becomes convinced of a local folk remedy, which claims that to regain his voice, he must sleep with the most beautiful woman in town—Maggie.
