Godfrey expresses his desire to leave the platoon, unwilling to engage in combat, which infuriates Mainwaring. The rest of the platoon turns against Godfrey, isolating him until they discover his heroic past from The Great War. Realizing his bravery, they welcome him back, and he returns to the unit as a medical orderly.
