King Subala readies his forces, believing that Bhishma has arrived to battle them. However, Bhishma's true intention is to propose a marriage between Gandhari and Dhritarashtra. This unexpected request unsettles King Subala, but Bhishma reassures him by promising the kingdom of Hastinapur in return.
