Chris encounters builder Steve Sygrove, who is set on constructing a vibrant and intricate American Gothic home nestled in the Titirangi bush. As a fifth-generation builder, Steve, along with his wife Chrissy, has a deep appreciation for all things beautiful, floral, and pink. Their distinctive creation, located near Auckland, showcases a handcrafted American Gothic design featuring elaborate elements such as a Juliette balcony, spandrels, a horseshoe window, lacework valences, and fabric-covered interior walls. Steve is determined to challenge the bureaucratic obstacles that hinder his artistic expression, seeing this remarkable project as his crowning achievement.
