In Hollywood, California, Edith Opal Horn, who would later take the name Susan, crosses paths with Bernie Lazar Hoffman, eventually known as Tony Alamo. The two marry and establish the Alamo Christian Foundation in 1969. However, facing ongoing backlash regarding its evangelical methods, the foundation decides to move to Arkansas.
