Buck travels through a space warp to an alternate universe, where he finds the serene planet Pendar in peril from the malevolent war witch Zarina. The inhabitants of Pendar seek assistance from Buck and Princess Ardala, who has followed him into this new realm. Together, they forge a fragile alliance between humans and Draconians as Buck takes command of a united fleet to confront Zarina's formidable battlecruiser.
