Monahan seeks assistance in investigating a body he suspects is connected to gem smuggling. To his shock, the woman scheduled for autopsy is discovered to still be alive, yet Dr. Quincy is absent. Instead, Dr. Hiro, a highly intelligent and formidable figure, steps in to take charge of the situation.
