Dean is selected to pilot the inaugural commercial flight to Moscow, but on the day of takeoff, the pompous veteran pilot Broyles steps in and makes Dean his co-pilot. Meanwhile, in Russia, Kate is on a crucial mission, but when Laura and another Pan Am stewardess are wrongfully accused of being spies, Kate seeks the aid of an unexpected ally to secure their release. Back in the States, Congressman Rawlings and his team are on a quest to identify the anonymous source of a damaging news article about him, while Maggie reluctantly agrees to accompany him to a fundraiser. Can she manage her temper around conservative supporters while keeping her identity as the article's author a secret? Meanwhile, Ted's relationship with Amanda intensifies, but Maggie discovers something about Amanda that could complicate their romance.
