An MIT-educated electronics expert arrives at the base with plans to transform the 73 into a fully automated, remote-controlled ship, leaving McHale and the Crew anxious about their future. Just when it seems they might be replaced, an unexpected ally steps in to save the day, granting them a last-minute reprieve.
