First Peoples (2015)
S1E1 Americas
As early humans ventured across the globe, their greatest obstacle was establishing colonies in the Americas due to a massive ice sheet that obstructed their path. Traditionally, it has been believed that the Clovis people, the first pioneers, arrived around 13,000 years ago. However, a recent underwater find in Mexico indicates that humans may have arrived much earlier and possibly by boat rather than on foot. This raises questions about how closely linked these First Americans are to modern Native Americans, a topic that stirs intense debate, particularly regarding the infamous Kennewick Man. Few other ancient remains evoke such passionate opinions.
