Stardate: 45614.6. The crew embarks on a mission to locate a missing J'naii shuttlecraft, suspected to be trapped in a peculiar region known as "null space." As Riker teams up with Soren, a J'naii crew member, they prepare for the rescue and form a budding friendship. Their connection deepens as they engage in discussions about their differing mating customs, given the J'naii's androgynous nature and lack of gender identity. Despite their distinct backgrounds, romantic tension begins to emerge between Riker and Soren.
