Brandon encounters Dylan McKay, an enigmatic outsider who intervenes when some jocks start picking on Scott during tech class. Impressed by Dylan's bravery, Brandon is invited to go surfing with him, where he gets to know Dylan's circle, including a young woman named Sarah who seems to be dealing with her own challenges.
