Dr. Kelso presents a challenge to the residents: the one who delivers the most captivating case study will win a trip to a medical conference in Reno. However, J.D. opts out of the competition, which earns him Dr. Cox's admiration. Meanwhile, Turk finds himself missing the chance to request a new laser on the only day Dr. Kelso allows special requests, prompting him to seek alternative solutions to acquire the equipment he needs.
