Eydie Gormé, born Edith Garmezano, was a celebrated American vocalist known for her contributions to both pop and Latin pop music. Her career took off when she signed with Coral Records in 1952, marking her entry into the music scene with the single "That Night of Heaven". Gormé's breakout moment came when she joined the cast of The Tonight Show during its early years alongside Steve Allen, where she met her future husband, Steve Lawrence. Together, they formed a musical duo, releasing their first single, "Make Yourself Comfortable/I've Gotta Crow," as the show gained national popularity in 1954.

In 1957, Gormé married Lawrence, and shortly thereafter, they co-hosted a television series, Steve Allen Presents the Steve Lawrence-Eydie Gormé Show, following Allen's departure from The Tonight Show. Their talents also shone on Broadway, where they starred in the musical Golden Rainbow, adapted from A Hole in the Head. Gormé's song "How Could I Be So Wrong," featured in the production, became a hit on the Easy Listening charts and contributed to the show's successful run.

Gormé and Lawrence paid tribute to the legendary George Gershwin in their Emmy Award-winning special, Our Love Is Here to Stay. They followed this success with another Emmy-winning special, Steve and Eydie Celebrate Irving Berlin, solidifying their legacy in the entertainment industry.
